Teaching Assistant required from January 2025 - initially for 1 year
8:15 – 15:30 (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break) Mon to Fri = 33.75hrs per week during term time Grade 3
Do you have enthusiasm, ambition and passion for learning? Are you someone keen to utilise the environment around you (and can cope with the hearty smells of the countryside!)? We are building a unique curriculum built around our own special location and working closely with local experts to ensure we are offering a curriculum specific to us.
We are looking to appoint a committed and dedicated teaching assistant, who values each child as an individual and recognises the importance of teamwork. The successful applicant will be given opportunities to further their professional development in this small village school in the heart of the Sussex countryside. The role will be a mixture of 1:1 support and whole class support under the direction of the class teacher.
KS2 experience would be advantageous, but is not essential – we are always keen to work with the unique strengths of our staff team. As a small school, there will always be times where you will support across all ages, so flexibility and a keenness to be part of the whole school team is key.
This job will particularly appeal to someone who is keen to become an integral part of a small team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a knowledge of how to work with children with individual needs or is willing to undertake CPD to learn
- Is always keen to improve their practice
- Is committed to using the local environment to enrich learning
- Forms excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
- Is imaginative, enthusiastic and hardworking
- Is innovative, and committed to school improvement
- Has high expectations of pupil achievement
- Can inspire and motivate pupils
- Is sympathetic and supportive of the Christian ethos
We offer:
- Children with a thirst for learning
- Smaller than average class sizes (only 89 children across the whole school)
- A stunning location at the foot of the South Downs
- A supportive team of staff committed to celebrating the uniqueness of Bury CE Primary School
- A team keen to take risks and exploit opportunities to engage children in every learning opportunity
- Close links with South Downs National Park Education Team
- We are an Ambassador School for the South Downs National Park which recognises our use of the local environment to enhance learning
Bury CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Candidates are vetted thoroughly and appointments are subject to identity checks, enhanced DBS clearance and the production of satisfactory references. Candidates will be asked about their commitment to safeguarding children at interview.
Visits to the school are actively encouraged – alternatively, a telephone call with the headteacher can be arranged.
Please email office@bury.school to arrange an appointment or for any further information.
